About Us and Community Events
Owners:

Ed Sanchez has worked with windows since 1983. He was emplyed by 2 different window manufacturers before starting a window replacement business in 1986. He found that over time, replacement windows rarely last as long as original ones. (Please read below for additional information on why original windows last longer.) He began to realize that restoring original windows is a wiser financial decision for the homeowner than replacing them with new ones. Consequently, in 2000, he began Window Restoration and Repair, to meet the needs of those who love the look of their older or historic homes. Since he naturally loves making old things last, this work is a fit for his personality. If anyone is interested in having Ed talk to your group at no cost about how to repair and restore wood and steel windows, he can be reached at edwindowrepair@yahoo.com or at the office at 562-493-1590.
Scott Goldfarb has a combination of business administration experience, an ability to create beautiful furniture, and a love of maintaining a green environment. Before becoming business partners with Ed, Scott was in High Tech sales but realized that it was not his passion in life. He loves window restoration because by not needing new plastic window parts, this company reduces the need for oil, by not using new wood windows, our work saves trees, and by not installing new aluminum windows, we reduce the need for mining aluminum.
Sales:

Norm Tauzon has been in the replacement window business for 12 years. In fact, Ed trained him 12 years ago and we were recently extremely happy to acquire him from a very successful window restoration company. Norm has had training by Anderson Windows and has done a lot of work with vinyl and aluminum windows.
Technicians:

All of our technicians are trained by Ed and come to the company with various branches of expertise. They have to be adept in wood working, metal work, engineering and inventive creativity. It takes from months to years to find each technician, since they have to have such unique and specific skills. They are the reason for our high rating on Angie's List, and for our frequent customer referrals.

Example of Our Work: What We Do with Double Hung Windows:
Tune-ups may require:
- Total disassembling of your windows.
- Planing and sanding if necessary (this will relieve tightness from the excess paint).
- Installing a brand new rope, chain or balancer
- Reinforcing all loose joints in the sashes. Calking will be needed to keep the joints from deteriorating any further. Epoxy restoration may be needed for badly rotted joints.
- Replacing parting beads that may be cracked, rotten or warped.
- Re-weighing. There should be no falling down or floating up in a sash. It should be suspended in space.
- Totally lubricating channeds and pulleys, which should solve squeaking and sticking.
- Realigning of locks and stops. Stops are vertical strips of wood, that are often held together by screws, which control the bottom sash. They should be perfectly lined up to allow the sash to have just enough clearance for free movement, but not toto much. When they are totally closed, they should touch the top rail of the bottom sash to keep the assembly still. This will prevent rattling when the wind blows.
- Installing weatherstripping if required or requested. This will increase energy efficiency and make the window seem smooth.
- If the sashes are irrepairable because of dry rot or termite damage, replicating and installing new sashes which will match identically the old sashes and keep the look of the house consistent.
